Saint Joseph the Pilgrim

I wanted to depict Saint Joseph as joyful and in the prime of life. He proudly carries the baby Jesus on his shoulders and presents all our intentions to him. Jesus welcomes them with tenderness. Joseph invites us too to take up our staff and walk enthusiastically along the path of our vocation. As with all my creations, I start with a sketch and then find a model that I dress and pose. I then shape a small clay sketch before moving on to the final modelling. Next come the moulding, casting and finishing touches.
