CoPAIN : Wooden sculptures around bread

©CoPAIN is a range of flour and bread boxes that I designed and carved from Swiss pine wood. Their beautiful, delicate ornamentation encourages people to bake their own sourdough bread by hand at home. It was during the lockdown.

I first designed the boxes on a 3D computer, before machining them using digital control and I carved the ears of corn by hand.

Each lid is turned on a wood lathe and then sanded; its essence, texture and pattern evoke the appearance of the bread crumb obtained from the flour contained in the box associated with it. Each type of flour gives bread a very specific crumb in terms of elasticity, density and colour, and the cap reflects its ornamental character.
